Este informe clínico aborda un problema frecuente en la práctica de la implantología: la infraoclusión y la pérdida de puntos de contacto interproximales en prótesis sobre implantes. La sustitución de estas prótesis, especialmente cuando se desconoce el fabricante del implante, es compleja y costosa. Se describe una técnica para corregir la infraoclusión en prótesis posteriores conectadas directamente al implante. Esta metodología, al evitar la remoción y reconexión de los aditamentos protésicos, tiene el potencial de prevenir la pérdida ósea marginal y reducir el número de citas necesarias. Ofrece una alternativa clínica relevante para el manejo de estas restauraciones en el día a día del profesional.

Abstract original

The prevalence of infraocclusion and/or loss of interproximal contact areas with implant-supported restorations is high, and replacement of these prostheses has been advocated for the treatment of mild or moderate infraocclusion; however, replacement is complicated if the manufacturer of the implant is unknown. A technique is presented for correcting the infraocclusion of posterior prostheses that are directly connected to the implant. Advantages include possibly preventing marginal bone loss secondary to the removal and reconnection of the prosthetic attachments and reducing the number of appointments.
