Se analiza la posible relación entre la alergia a la penicilina, la artritis reumatoide y el riesgo de fracaso de implantes dentales en cirugía oral y maxilofacial. Se exploran los mecanismos inmunológicos y de inflamación que podrían afectar la oseointegración y la respuesta de los tejidos periimplantarios, dada la relevancia clínica de estas condiciones. Esta publicación ofrece información útil para identificar factores relevantes en la historia médica durante la evaluación preoperatoria. Permite apoyar una planificación de tratamiento individualizada y fomenta una monitorización más estrecha de los pacientes con antecedentes de alergia o enfermedad autoinmune que vayan a recibir rehabilitación con implantes dentales.

Abstract original

This article explores the potential association between penicillin allergy, rheumatoid arthritis, and the risk of implant failure in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Based on the clinical relevance of these conditions, it examines possible immunological and inflammatory mechanisms that may influence osseointegration and peri-implant tissue response. The publication may help clinicians identify relevant medical history factors during preoperative assessment, support individualized treatment planning, and encourage closer monitoring of patients with allergy or autoimmune disease who are candidates for dental implant rehabilitation.
